Happy! Happy! New Year to you! The Adventurous Dynamic Duo coming back to you, with a little fun and excitement - adventures for your weekend. As you can see with our Blogs, we love to have fun, explore new opportunities, and live our life intentionally. Every month, we, continuously, tackle Activities from our bucket list. Sometimes, it is an adventure out of the country, sometimes in another state in the USA, or an event/activity we choose to participate in over a weekend, right here in our own city (yes, a staycation!).
We want to inspire you to enjoy your life to the fullest. This week, we are going to take you to some cultural events we attended and LOVED!!! Let’s start with attending the Alvin Ailey Show on an Saturday afternoon. Here's a little history on the Alvin Ailey dance theater: The theater started in Harlem, New York back in 1958 with 7 dancers. Alvin Ailey was the company director, choreographer, and principal dancer. He did it ALL!!! In 1969, Ailey established, his Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, which later was named, Ailey School (… thanks Wikipedia). In December, 1989, Ailey died; but prior to his death, he selected Judith Jamison, once a principal Ailey dancer, herself, as artistic director. As time went on, in 2011, Robert Battle became the director.
It is estimated the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has performed for 23 million people in 48 states and for 71 countries on 6 continents. Wow!!! With all this being said, if you haven’t attended one of their shows, the Adventurous Dynamic Duo suggests you do, so! This Show is sometimes referred to as, " The Ambassador for American Culture." We were able to experience their blending of highly emotional, theatrical, “off the chain,” 😍 modern dance, jazz dance, ballet, and American/Latino genres. Their costumes were phenomenal, and the entire show was just breath-taking. Their show is entertainment at its finest, with a racially integrated Cast. This show is what we call another "memorable moment"; one that we shared together.😘
The following weekend, we attended the UniverSoul Circus; another, Saturday afternoon, Staycation event. The Founder and CEO Cedric Walker, of UniverSoul Circus has been putting smiles on people faces for the past 25 years. This Circus, isn’t your typical 3-ring-Circus-as-usual, event! This Circus , is what we called a “family party.” It truly is an experience and sooooo much fun. "Soul" Circus has talent from all over the world. When you go, get ready to experience a little of Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B, Latin, and so much more. The Adventurous Dynamic Duo was up on our feet, just like two big kids, singing, shouting, dancing and yes, belly laughing … all the way!😀 Remember, age is just a number, and we, both, are just two big kids at heart. 😂
Tips:
1. Plan weekend fun events to attend. There is so much available to see & do.
2. Google to find activities/entertainment to see/do, right in the city, where you live. Yep, a Staycation!!!
3. Add some culture to your life. You want to live a well-rounded life too.
4. Try something new; it adds depth to your life and your personality.
5. Step outside of your box; it’s time to live, learn, and grow.
6. Put money aside just for adventures. It’s more to life then just working.
7. Do your research. Some events are free.
The book, “More of You God,” on pg. 88 reads, “Jesus, Jesus, today, I’m praising You for where You are taking me. I refuse to look at my, now-situation. I’m going to glorify You for where I am going. I have a spirit of expectancy, expecting to have a new-life in You. Expecting to see new, be new, and live a new life.”
Remember, God wants us to enjoy life. HE said He would give us life more abundantly, so enjoy your life, intentionally.
